However, not long after launching the boat, the rain started to increase and it continued to rain hard most of the day. After a few hours, I realized that despite some great raingear, I was still fully exposed to the elements and that mother nature was distracting me from my fishing and making my overall experience less than enjoyable. It didn't help that the fish were not cooperating either!

The thought occurred to me that if I had some sort of cover, I could get some much desired relief from the weather, and that I would not only have a much more enjoyable outdoor experience, but that I would also be less distracted and better able to concentrate on my fishing.

However, I was not aware of a product on the market that would give me the protection I needed, yet work for me while fishing out of my fishing boat. Traditional boat tops like the Bimini are not an option, as they take up too much space, are not easily removable, and interfered too much with my style of fishing. Hence, the idea for Pro-Techt was born.

After doing some additional thinking, research and analysis, I concluded that there was a great need for a compact, portable, quickly deployable weather protection system. I further realized that this type of product would not only be great for the rain, but would also provide great protection and relief from the dangerous and uncomfortable effects of the sun, and would have appeal to many other outdoor activities besides fishing. This realization led me to define Pro-Techt's mission statement as:

"Pro-Techt's mission is to offer innovative, affordable, user friendly, high quality products which provide comfort and protection to enable and improve the outdoor experience for the millions of people who work and play in the great outdoors."

I took this opportunity to leave "corporate America" and found Pro-Techt. I hired a great design team, and after a lot of hard work, critical thinking, focus groups, etc, we were off to the races. We further refined our thinking to have our Mantis tops quickly and universally attach to a variety of mounts, so that people could quickly move their canopy to various locations, and use the same Mantis for a variety of outdoor activities.
